Novice architects and students struggle to make portfolios aesthetically and narratively appealing. Another challenge comes as platforms like Behance is saturated with experienced professionals with high-quality work which shadows the works of freshers and students.
The identified solution is Folio. Folio is an app/website for architecture students to gather inspiration and create portfolios with ease.

As this was an individual design dummy project, I was completely in charge of the studies and the design.

From an easy portfolio and resume sharing platform, to getting an endless experience of inspirational content. The folio app does it all with ease.
A look at the Profile
From a seamless banner, to a professional easy to access resume, the app showcases the base information all under one screen with the intention to make it easily accessible. A simple click of a button allows you to share, like, or connect with the candidate. Adding on the experience is a click that takes you directly to the projects and portfolio section.
And the Banner
Added banner provides a sense of customization of the profile making it a little more friendly and themed.
Skills at a Glance
Scroll down and know about the candidate. The minimal UI lets you know the skills, experience, education, achievements and more. Hence making it effective for hiring managers.
The easy share and connect feature allows a smooth connect with friends feature and hiring managers or clients. Thus, enabling and increasing connections among newbies.

A simply professional experience is maintained on the web version as the layout shows the profile and featured contents under one screen.
The Portfolio
Simple scrollable portfolio stands right next to the most used buttons making it easy to like, share or connect with others. Simple screen is maintained to keep things minimal.
Every visual is displayed seamlessly and without obstruction, achieved through the removal of app navigation, buttons, and text boxes. Additionally, the inclusion of a comments section and connection tag simplifies the process of forming connections and facilitates communication.
Addictive Scrolling of Inspirations
An addictive infinite scroll of inspirations gets you attached to this productive platform within seconds. Each scroll gives a dose of curiosity exposing new ideas, and inspirations
The interface designed keeps things simple with few categories and search bar making things efficient. The infinite scroll contains portfolios, projects, blogs and articles forming a contrast on the screen.
The infinite scroll pattern continues in areas of profile, but with a little formal layout and categorized look with views and likes icons easily readable.
The Process of Design

Step 1 – Basic Primary research – To understand the topic of what an architecture portfolio is. Step 2 – Understanding the story and actions of the user. Step 3 – Identifying the problem – Area of problem and tip of rough issues. Step 4 – Get a base for primary research. Step 5 – Primary research – Gather insights, possible problems and understand user needs and actions. Step 6 – Ideate – Funnel down to few major and target problems and find a few possible solutions. Step 7 – Prototype – Form a skeleton which includes Wireframes, sketches, flow charts and few basic frames. Step 8 – Testing – Test with users and iterate if needed. Step 9 – Form screens, UI, test and iterate if needed.
